Russian President and the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill met with the prize winners at the Patriarch's Palace in the Kremlin.
The 2008 Prize of the International Foundation for the Unity of Orthodox Christian Nations ”For the outstanding activity on strengthening unity of Orthodox Christian Nations. For consolidation and promotion of Christian values in the life of Society“ was awarded to President of Montenegro Filip Vujanović, Metropolitan of the Czech Lands and Slovakia Christopher, Governor of St Petersburg Valentina Matvienko, and the Faculty of Orthodox Theology of the University of Bucharest.
The International Foundation for Unity of Orthodox Christian Nations was formed in 1995 with the blessing of Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Alexy II. Prizes are awarded by the Foundation each year to state, religious, political and public figures.
