The messages from the President of Russia read:
“Canada is an important partner for Russia, and we attach great importance to strengthening relations with the country. We are pleased to note an appreciable increase in our bilateral cooperation in recent years, including in such priority areas as the expansion of trade and economic and investment ties, development of the North and the Arctic, and also constructive interaction in international affairs.”
The Russian President said he hoped for “a continuation of productive joint work in strengthening partnership between Russia and Canada in the interests of the peoples of our countries, international stability and security.”
