The full name of the law that was signed by the President is “On Ratifying the Agreement between the Russian Federation and the People's Republic of China on the Status of the Russian Federation's Military Formations which are Temporarily on the Territory of the People's Republic of China, and the Status of the People's Republic of China's Military Formations which are Temporarily on the Territory of the Russian Federation for the Purpose of Carrying Out Joint Military Exercises“
The agreement was signed in Beijing on 6 August 2005 and in Moscow on 8 August 2005 and determines the status of members of Russian military forces in China for the purpose of carrying out joint military exercises and members of Chinese military forces while in Russia for the same purposes. The Agreement also determines the regime according to which military formations will cross the other party’s state borders, the regime for importing and exporting weapons as well as military equipment, for ensuring sufficient material resources, the regime governing compensation for material damage, taxation, for protecting private information and the exchange of this information, and criminal justice.
