President Putin will soon visit the regions of Yakutia affected by the flood. He announced this after Emergency Situation Minister Sergei Shoigu had reported that the tasks set before the government commission for dealing with the after-effects of the flood had been resolved. Mr Putin emphasised that the commission should not stop its work until he saw the results.
Mr Shoigu made his report via a satellite link-up from Lensk. He said that all the 3,200 families who lost their shelter had already been provided with housing. All education, social and cultural premises, and public utilities had been restored. Roads and other infrastructure facilities had been repaired.
President Putin asked Mr Shoigu to report on the financial resources spent on the recovery.
Mr Putin also instructed the Minister to organise supplies of humanitarian aid to Afghanistan.
