“Yelena Obraztsova, a great Russian singer and a woman of unique talent, enormous creative energy and inner dignity, has passed away. Her creative career, her whole life is a bright example of selfless service of the art and people, devotion and dedication to lofty spiritual and moral ideals.”
Yelena Obraztsova died on January 12, 2015 in Germany at the age of 75.
The repertoire of the National Artist of the USSR featured over eighty parts from classic and modern operas. She performed on the world’s most famous opera stages, including La Scala, Covent Garden, the Metropolitan Opera and others. Her extensive concert repertoire featured pieces by over a hundred 18th-20th century composers, including operas, chamber and church music, Russian songs, old romances, classic operettas, and jazz compositions.
