President of Russia Dmitry Medvedev: Mr Tyurdenev, I have signed an Order appointing you as Russia’s new ambassador to Uzbekistan.
This is an important direction for you as an experienced diplomat who is familiar with this work in the CIS and other nations, including nations in Latin America (if I recall correctly, the last time we met there was in Brazil). This direction is no less important – indeed, this course is extremely important.
Uzbekistan is our major partner in Central Asia. It is a state that is developing dynamically, and our ability to develop strong and friendly relations with the leadership of this nation, our economic and political relations with our closest partners, will have a great impact on the success of Russia’s policy in Central Asia.
Thus, I would like you to begin your work immediately. Please give our Uzbek friends my warmest regards, and keep me regularly informed on how things are going there.
Russia’S Ambassador To Uzbekistan Vladimir Tyurdenev: Mr President, I will be leaving for Tashkent in a few days and I will work hard to promote the development of relations between our two nations.
Dmitry Medvedev: Thank you.
