The invitation is contained in the message from Junichiro Koizumi to Vladimir Putin delivered by Japanese ex-Prime Minister Yoshiro Mori during his meeting with the President at the Kremlin.
The President thanked Yoshiro Mori for his help in continuing Russian-Japanese contact at state level.
Vladimir Putin and Yoshiro Mori gave a high assessment to the bilateral “Plan of Action” signed in January. They discussed issues of trade and economic cooperation, mainly connected with a series of projects in the fuel and energy sphere. They also discussed continuing work by experts on developing a peace treaty.
The Russian President hopes that the meeting of the intergovernmental commission scheduled for 28–30 June, which will be headed by deputy Prime Minister Viktor Khristenko on the Russian side, will enable a number of projects to be worked out in detail.
