Development of tourism on Russia’s inland waterways was the main subject of discussion. The meeting was part of the Rivers of Russia National Tourism Forum.
The meeting participants noted the need for a comprehensive approach to promoting and developing river tourism, and examined issues related to attracting tourists from abroad to river tourism in Russia, to river cruise safety, the outlook for developing passenger shipbuilding, and the state of infrastructure on rivers and coastal zones.
The participants discussed the development of river tourism in the regions, the problems obstructing this sector’s development, and the issues they plan to put on the agenda at the upcoming State Council Presidium meeting.
Taking part in the meeting were Plenipotentiary Presidential Envoy to the Central Federal District Alexander Beglov, Acting Governor of the Tver Region Igor Rudenya, Governor of the Kostroma Region Sergei Sitnikov, Deputy Governor and Prime Minister of the Astrakhan Region Konstantin Markelov, Deputy Transport Minister and Director of Rosmorrechflot [Russian inland waterways fleet] Viktor Olersky, federal and regional executive officials, and representatives of tourism sector companies and the expert community.
