The message reads, in part:
“This is the 18th time that Vladivostok hosts events dedicated to preserving the Amur tiger population. As in the previous years, these celebrations create a festive atmosphere in the city, attracting people of all ages and trades. Most importantly, the festival has an important educational mission, namely to raise public awareness on environment-related matters, conservation of biodiversity and the planet’s wildlife.
The fact that the Amur tiger, a species on the brink of extinction, is protected by the state is very important. Today, efforts by rangers, volunteers and many wildlife protection enthusiasts help increase its population, against the backdrop of rising public awareness of the need to care for this predator from the Red List of Endangered Species. Despite the might and strength of this animal, it desperately needs our care and attention.”
