The participants focused on preparations for the next meeting of the Council, which will review the state of interethnic relations in the context of the spatial development of the Russian Federation.
Deputy Minister of Economic Development Vadim Zhivulin informed the participants about progress in drafting the Russian Federation Spatial Development Strategy to 2025.
During the ensuing discussion, the heads of the Council’s working bodies put forward a number of recommendations in order to incorporate regional ethnocultural specifics and the goals of state ethnic policy in the Strategy.
Summing up the discussion, Magomedsalam Magomedov stressed the importance of eliminating imbalances in the regions’ development in order to strengthen the unity of the multi-ethnic Russian nation.
Head of the Federal Agency for Ethnic Affaires Igor Barinov reported about the efforts to introduce changes to the Strategy for the State Ethnic Policy of the Russian Federation through 2025.
Chairman of the State Duma Committee for Nationalities’ Affairs Ildar Gilmutdinov and Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Valery Tishkov spoke on a number of agenda items.
The results of an independent expert analysis of nominations for the Presidential Prize for contribution to strengthening the unity of the Russian nation were also considered.
Corresponding resolutions were adopted following the meeting.
