Taking part in the meeting on the Russian side were members of the Presidential Council for Interethnic Relations Ivan Melnikov, Oleg Melnichenko and Vladimir Zorin, while Kazakhstani was represented by Vladimir Bozhko, Akhmed Muradov and other experts on international and interethnic relations.
The discussion focused on the implementation of the two countries’ ethnic policies and covered a wide range of current bilateral issues.
Magomedsalam Magomedov updated the Kazakh delegates on the implementation of Russia’s State Ethnic Policy Strategy until 2025.
Zhanseit Tuimebayev spoke about the work of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan and common methods used by the Assembly and the Russian authorities to implement state programmes in the framework of their ethnic policies.
The head of the Kazakh delegation put forth their proposals on common activities, such as the training of Russian language teachers for Kazakh schools.
An agreement was reached following the meeting to continue consultations and the exchange of experience on current issues on the Russian and Kazakh agenda related to ethnic policies.
