Presidential Aide and State Council Secretary Igor Levitin chaired a meeting of the working group as part of preparations for an expanded joint meeting of the State Council Presidium and the Presidential Council for Science and Education to discuss enhancing the Russian regions’ role in training personnel for the economy and the social sphere.
The meeting was attended by Head of the State Council working group on Education and Science and Novosibirsk Region Governor Andrei Travnikov, Head of the Education subgroup and Kirov Region Governor Igor Vasilyev, Deputy Minister of Education Viktor Basyuk, Adviser to the President Alexandra Levitskaya, Chairman of the State Duma Committee for Education and Science Vyacheslav Nikonov, Federation Council member Oleg Tkach, deputy governors of the Russian regions in charge of science and education, and heads of education and research organisations.
During the trip, the participants toured fulltime secondary school #26 in Kirov, training and production workshops and labs at the Vyatka Electric Engineering College, and the Children’s Centre for Distance Learning, which provides individual training for children with disabilities and distance learning for pupils in rural areas.
The meeting participants discussed ways to form streamlined resource management models for regional education systems, problems with developing network formats for implementing basic general education programmes and using modern information technology.
