Vladimir Putin congratulated Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi on winning the recent presidential election and taking office.
Both sides expressed satisfaction with the current level of Russian-Iranian relations and noted their commitment to the further development of multifaceted mutually beneficial cooperation. In this context, they reviewed the main items on the bilateral agenda, including the implementation of major joint projects in trade and the economy, as well as interaction in fighting the spread of the coronavirus.
The prospects for resuming the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action on the Iranian nuclear programme were discussed.
Much attention was paid to the events unfolding in Afghanistan. Willingness to contribute to the establishment of peace and stability in this country was expressed.
The presidents also touched on preparations for the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit in Dushanbe taking into account the application submitted by Iran for full membership in this organisation.
It was agreed to maintain personal contact.
