The Federal Law was adopted in order to implement the Council of Europe Convention on the manipulation of sports competitions and is aimed at improving legislative regulation related to countering unlawful influence on the results of official sports competitions.
The Federal Law envisages legislative recognition of the term “conflict of interest in the field of physical culture and sports” and gives its definition.
The Federal Law also refers to illegal influence on the result of an official sports competition the use, distribution and (or) provision of insider information received by an individual in the field of physical culture and sports, as well as failure to take measures to prevent conflicts of interest in this area.
