Taking part in the meeting were Minister of Energy Nikolai Shulginov, Head of the Republic of Buryatia, Chairman of the State Council commission on transport Alexei Tsydenov, Head of the Republic of Khakassia Valentin Konovalov, Irkutsk Region Governor Igor Kobzev, as well as representatives of specialised federal and regional executive bodies and organisations.
The participants in the meeting discussed problematic operational issues in the fuel and energy sector against the backdrop of foreign sanctions, and ways of overcoming the current challenges.
Igor Levitin noted that the State Council commissions have been drafting new proposals for the Government’s plan of priority actions designed to promote Russia’s economic development in conditions of foreign sanctions and taking into consideration the rapidly changing economic landscape. This also includes assessing how Government measures are implemented on the ground and their effectiveness with respect to the specific features and needs of the Russian regions.
The participants paid special attention to mechanisms for the transportation of coal products from the Russian regions by rail, as well as ensuring the supply of coal to the utilities companies in the Far Eastern Federal District.
The commission approved proposals and will submit them to the State Council Working Group on Economic Issues and Countering the Spread of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) for further review in cooperation with the Government Commission on Improving the Sustainability of the Russian Economy in the face of sanctions.
