The message reads, in part:
“I greet you on the launch of a new literary and publishing project, the Union State Library, which will present a series of books devoted to landmark events in the common history of Russia and Belarus to a wide readership.
Now, amid numerous attempts to rewrite history and to distort it in the interests of political expediency, it is especially important to expand access to truthful, accurate information about the past, to preserve and convey to the next generations the memory of the feats of arms of our ancestors, their achievements in science, culture, arts and other areas.
This is why the project that is being implemented under the auspices of the Union State Standing Committee is of great educational value, and, of course, it will strengthen the fraternal friendship and spiritual unity that have connected the people in Russia and Belarus since the earliest times.”
