The Federal Law increases administrative penalties for violations of the State Border regime of the Russian Federation, including violations of the rules governing entry into and exit from the Russian Federation; violations of the border regime within the border zone; violations of regulations in the territorial sea and internal maritime waters of the Russian Federation; violations of the regime at checkpoints across the State Border; and violations of the rules governing peaceful passage through the territorial sea of the Russian Federation or transit through Russian airspace. The amendments also increase liability for violating procedures for passing through designated checkpoints, for disobeying a lawful order or demand issued by a service member performing duties related to the protection of the State Border of the Russian Federation, and for the illegal transportation of persons across the State Border.
