Together with President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, Sergei Ivanov took part in a meeting of the VTB United League Council and attended the draw ceremony for the 2013–2014 season.
The VTB United League is a basketball competition established in 2008 by the Russian Basketball Federation and bringing together the strongest clubs in Eastern and Northern Europe. Mr Ivanov is the league’s president.
Later, Mr Ivanov attended basketball and swimming events at the World Summer Universiade. Mr Ivanov presented medals to the three place winners in the 100 metres freestyle swimming event. Gold in the event went to Russia’s Vladimir Morozov, who set a Universiade record, silver went to Nikita Lobintsev, also from Russia, and bronze went to Italy’s Michele Santucci.
