With Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey to the Russian Federation Umit Yardim.
During his visit to the Turkish Embassy, the Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office signed the book of condolences in connection with the terrorist attacks in Ankara.

In his conversation with the Turkish Ambassador to Russia Umit Yardim, Sergei Ivanov stressed that the terrorist attacks confirm the need for close cooperation between Turkey and Russia in combatting international terrorism.

The Chief of Staff voiced the opinion that the terrorists were trying to destabilise the situation in Turkey on the eve of the parliamentary elections. Mr Ivanov expressed hope that the people of Turkey would be able to resist such threats and would not allow any destabilisation of the political situation.

Sergei Ivanov also said that despite the differences of opinion on certain international issues, Turkey remains Russia’s friendly neighbour and reliable partner.

The Chief of Staff signed the book of condolences.

97 people were killed and 160 injured as a result of two blasts that took place in Ankara on October 10.
