The meeting analysed draft amendments to the Criminal Code, the Criminal Procedure Code and the Administrative Offences Code, as well as the law On the Detention of Persons Suspected of or Charged with Crimes.
In his opening remarks, Sergei Ivanov said that these amendments were drafted in accordance with the instructions of the President of Russia to help create a more favourable business environment, reduce business risks and preclude any attempts to pressure businesses by threatening them with criminal prosecution.
The proposed amendments to the current legislation will raise the level of damage leading to criminal prosecution for economic crimes; raise the minimal amount of tax arrears required to launch criminal proceedings for tax crimes; and allow notaries to meet with entrepreneurs who are held in detention or under house arrest.
