The meeting was attended by Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Physical Fitness and Sport Dmitry Svishchev, Governor of the Chelyabinsk Region Alexei Teksler, Deputy Ministers of Sport Azat Kadyrov and Odes Baysultanov, as well as representatives of federal and regional executive bodies and public organisations.
In his opening remarks, Igor Levitin noted that the State Council Commission would become the main platform for analysing the role and authority of regional sports federations and organisations, and their contribution to building an effective system to advance physical fitness and sports in Russia.
The discussion also focused on financial support for the activities of regional and local sports federations and their interaction with national and international sports federations, as well as Moscow’s experience in engaging with NGOs in the field of physical fitness and sports.
The proposals made following the meeting will be included in the report on the role of NGOs in promoting physical fitness and sport for the next meeting of the Presidential Council for the Development of Physical Culture and Sport.
