Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Magomedsalam Magomedov has chaired a meeting of the Presidential Council for Interethnic Relations Presidium.
The participants reviewed some of the results of the implementation of state ethnic policy in the Russian Federation and the activities of the Council for Interethnic Relations in 2024.
Opening the meeting, Magomedsalam Magomedov emphasised that in the face of the intensifying attempts to create a favourable background for major social upheavals in our society, the ongoing systematic work to execute the state ethnic policy at all levels has ensured resistance to the outside pressure, and continues to improve in response to the new challenges and threats.
The participants had a discussion on the progress in elaborating the new State Ethnic Policy Strategy of the Russian Federation until 2036, updating its goals, objectives and priorities. They also considered some of the current trends in ethnic relations in Russia. Those present heard reports made, respectively, by Igor Barinov, head of the Federal Agency for Ethnic Affairs, Dr Valery Tishkov, co-chair of the Scientific Council of the Russian Academy of Sciences on ethnicity and interethnic relations, Vladimir Zorin, chairman of the Civic Chamber Commission on Interethnic, Interreligious Relations and Migration, and Alexander Brod, coordinator of the Lawyers for Human Rights and Dignified Life public organisation.
Relevant decisions were adopted following the meeting.
