The meeting of the Maritime Board was chaired by Aide to the President Nikolai Patrushev and attended by ministers and heads of departments, maritime regions and organisations involved in the maritime sector.
The discussion focused on the drafting of a comprehensive project for the development of the Russian Federation Arctic zone of and the Trans-Arctic Transport Corridor.
At the meeting, the main approaches to shaping this comprehensive project were proposed; it is expected that it would become a strategic planning document containing a system of interconnected investment and innovation projects based on the territorial principle and aimed at achieving Russia’s national development goals and ensuring a comprehensive development of the Arctic Zone and the Far East.
The goal of the project is to promote a comprehensive development of the socioeconomic and territorial logistics potential of the Arctic and the Trans-Arctic Transport Corridor to boost the economic development of the Arctic Zone and the Far East, improve the standards and quality of people’s lives, ensure the connectivity of Russia’s territory, and increase international transportation.
As part of the preparation of this comprehensive project, the participants formulated the tasks aimed at creating a system of new industrial clusters and investment projects in the Arctic, preparing a transport and economic model of the Trans-Arctic Transport Corridor, and selecting critical technologies for Arctic development.
