The seminar’s focus was the implementation of the President’s instructions. Participants in the seminar included deputy Prosecutor General Yury Ponomaryov, Deputy Regional Development Minister Sergei Nazarov, Sverdlovsk Region Governor Yevgeny Kuivashev, member of the Presidential Council for Interethnic Relations Presidium Vladimir Zorin, and leading federal and regional interethnic relations experts. Similar events have already been held in four other federal districts.
Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Urals Federal District Igor Kholmanskikh stressed that lately, greater attention is being given in the district to ethnic policy issues due to the significance of interethnic stability for state security.
In his speech at the meeting, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Magomedsalam Magomedov noted the intensification of the process of civil unity on the basis of patriotism, which is the result of the geopolitical events that have come to pass. Remarking on the increased foreign policy pressure on Russia, Mr Magomedov pointed out the possibility of provocations aimed at aggravating interethnic relations within the country.
According to Deputy Chief of Staff, it is imperative to develop effective municipal programmes aimed at ensuring the implementation of state ethnic policy.
