During the meeting, the participants focused on the approaches to Russia’s state ethnic policy, including government efforts to facilitate ethnic and cultural development of Russian Germans. Magomedsalam Magomedov stressed the importance of resuming the work of the Russian-German Intergovernmental Commission for Russian Germans and expanding this format.
Hartmut Koschyk praised the initiatives undertaken by the Russian government regarding Russian Germans, and confirmed that the Federal Government of Germany is looking forward to hosting a meeting of the Russian-German Intergovernmental Commission for Russian Germans in 2017.
Taking part in the working meeting were Head of the Federal Agency for Ethnic Affairs Igor Barinov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to Russia Ruediger von Fritsch and President of the Federation of Ethnic and Cultural Autonomy of Russian Germans, member of the Board of the Council for Interethnic Relations Heinrich Martens.
