Yelena Yampolskaya discussed the creation of a unified series of national textbooks on Russian language and literature for comprehensive school with members of parent groups

Presidential Adviser, Chair of the Council on State Policy for Supporting Russian Language and Languages of the Peoples of Russia Yelena Yampolskaya Yampolskaya Yelena Yampolskaya YelenaAdviser to the President met with members of the All-Russian Parent Committee and regional parent committees.

During the event sponsored by the Znaniye Society, the participants discussed creating a unified series of national textbooks on Russian language and literature for forms five through nine.

A unified series of national textbooks on Russian language and literature is being created in accordance with the Presidential instruction (from the list of instructions No. Pr-2814 of December 30, 2024). The writing teams led by Yelena Yampolskaya have recently started working on textbooks for comprehensive school.

The meeting was also attended by the writing teams’ research advisers and members of the parent committees from Russian regions. Parents from Moscow, the Moscow, Ryazan and Tver regions attended offline. Representatives of the Donetsk and Lugansk people’s republics, the Stavropol Territory, the Vologda, Penza, Ivanovo, Novosibirsk and Chelyabinsk regions, as well as Crimea, Komi, Mari El and Bashkortostan participated via videoconference.

The parents shared their ideas, comments and preferences regarding the contents, structure and visual components of the future textbooks, including from students themselves. They also discussed the age-related specifics of the comprehensive school, education goals of the textbooks in question, the role of the Russian language and literature in personality development, critical thinking, eloquence and communication skills. They particularly focused on the practical aspects of tasks and ways to encourage students to read more.

The Presidential Adviser noted that this type of meetings is an important part of work on national textbooks that essentially involves direct public opinion: “We deliberately follow the strategy of providing regular reports to the parent community on the textbook project. We record all suggestions and comments. This conversation was vital and extremely substantive.”

Based on the results of the discussion, it was noted that the key approaches used in the development of a unified series of national textbooks on Russian language and literature have been actively supported by the parent community. According to the meeting participants, both parents and teachers show overall understanding of the goals and objectives of the national textbooks. They are also interested in their upgrading.

“We will take guidance from the dialogue between teachers and parents in our further work. These are the people who communicate with children on a daily basis and understand the school’s real needs,” Yelena Yampolskaya stressed.

The writing teams will further review the proposals made during the meeting and take them into account in their work on comprehensive school textbooks.
