Mr Medvedev said in particular in his message:
“Your forum addresses an important and topical issue – attracting new investment to the Russian regions. Large-scale and long-term investment can provide an important boost to high-technology production, developing the agriculture sector, and improving transport infrastructure, thereby building up the regions’ economic potential and raising living standards for millions of people.
I hope that the decisions and recommendations that come out of your forum will find practical application, help Russian and foreign entrepreneurs to get to know each other better, and facilitate the implementation of promising investment projects in Khanty-Mansiisk Autonomous District and throughout Russia.”
The Yugra 2008 International Investment Forum, the fifth such forum, will take place in Khanty-Mansiisk from October 15–17. It will showcase the region’s investment opportunities in sectors such as petrochemicals, gas processing, electricity production, timber processing, production of construction materials, the construction sector, and tourism.
The forum’s 250 participants include the heads of federal ministries and agencies, regional governors and representatives of major companies and financial institutions from Russia and abroad.
