Vladimir Putin ordered Energy Minister Alexander Novak and RusHydro Chairman of the Board Yevgeny Dod to fly to Blagoveshchensk [Amur Region]. Mr Dod reported that RusHydro will soon allocate 100 million rubles [$3 million] for compensation payments to flood victims.
The President also instructed Minister of Civil Defence, Emergencies and Disaster Relief Vladimir Puchkov and Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu to strengthen the deployed groups, to send additional forces and resources to affected areas, and to coordinate their ongoing efforts.
Health Minister Veronika Skvortsova was instructed to take all necessary measures to provide timely medical assistance to the population in flooded areas, and to keep the situation relating to disease control and prevention under control.
The President listened to a report from Amur Region Governor Oleg Kozhemyako about the current situation there.
Mr Putin emphasised that heads of federal agencies must coordinate their actions with heads of regions affected by the disaster.
In addition, President Putin instructed the Government to substantially increase aid to the regions affected by the floods.
