The President listened to reports on the interim results of work in Far Eastern regions affected by flooding, and on implementing the relevant presidential Executive Order.
Vladimir Puchkov reported on the completion of emergency evacuation and restoration of vital services. The Emergencies Minister said that the Ministry’s working group in the Far East will be doubled. Preparations for flooding control in 2014 are also underway.
Yury Trutnev briefed the President on the work of the Government Commission for implementing the presidential Executive Order [on Relief Measures Following Large-Scale Flooding, of August 31, 2013], namely the temporary resettlement of residents, disbursing financial assistance, surveying homes affected by flooding, preparing to build new housing, and subsidising the prices of coal deliveries and food.
The President stressed that local residents must be made aware of what is being done for them, of the decisions that have been taken, and of their rights. Vladimir Putin also noted that it is necessary to work closely with municipalities when selecting sites for new buildings, organising renovations, and choosing contractors.
Mr Putin expressed his gratitude to Emergencies Ministry workers and the Defence Ministry’s military personnel for their professional, courageous and responsible actions. He also said that he awaits relevant proposals for awarding state decorations.
