The President said the UN Security Council’s resolution on Iraq was acceptable for Russia. He stressed that it principally contained no provision for the automatic use of force.
Speaking about the situation in Chechnya, the President said the constitutional process in the republic should not be drawn out, and that he planned to discuss the issue with the representatives of the Chechen community later that day.
The President asked the Cabinet to finish their work on important bills on currency regulation and deposit insurance within the week.
