The one-on-one meeting between the two leaders took place at the British Premier’s residence at 10 Downing Street, where Mr Putin arrived after a sightseeing tour of London.
During the talks bilateral relations were discussed. The parties confirmed the strategic character of the partnership between Russia and Britain.
They also discussed the prospects for reconstruction in Afghanistan, the situation in South Asia, on the Korean Peninsula and Russia’s relations with the European Union and NATO.
The situation in Iraq and the Middle East was also discussed. President Putin briefed Mr Blair on the parameters of Russian-Iranian cooperation. The two sides were one in their opinion that Teheran needed to be further encouraged to cooperate with the IAEA.
