President Putin congratulated the coach on the victory of the Russian team over Wales and asked him to pass along his congratulations to the team. He pointed out that it was a difficult battle and a beautiful victory.
Mr Putin expressed hope that the team would represent Russia well at the European Championship in Portugal.
Speaking to reporters earlier, the President said he had watched the Russia-Wales match on TV and liked the way the Russian team played.
The Russia-Wales match in Cardiff on November 19 resulted in Russia’s victory with a score 1–0, and Russia qualified for the finals of the European Championship.
