The message read., in part:
“I congratulate Russian Buddhists on the Sagaalgan festival, from the bottom of my heart.
“The Festival of the White Moon has ancient roots, and is an inalienable part of the vast religious and cultural heritage of our multi-ethnic motherland. It symbolises the rebirth of Man and Nature, and fills hearts with faith, hope and the precious feelings of good and justice.
“Buddhist values have always promoted rapprochement, understanding and cooperation. This is of extreme importance nowadays, as the state and the community are joining hands against ethnic and religious intolerance, extremism and attempts to bring discord to the peaceful coexistence of religions.
“Russia’s future is in social accord and mutual respect between its peoples. Of this I am convinced.
“I wish you and your near and dear good health, happiness and well-being.”
