He said the Government should closely watch the food market. Its grain and meat prices must not be allowed to greatly fluctuate.
The President stressed the need for supporting Russian producers and following an even-handed tariffs and customs policy.
He also discussed easing the tax burden on farms struggling to improve agriculture.
During the meeting, Mr Putin said he signed a decree re-establishing the Medal for Achievements in Agriculture.
