The wreath of fir branches was decorated with white and red flowers, and girded with a blue and red ribbon bearing the inscription ”To the Unknown Soldier from the President of Russia“.
The Presidential orchestra played the Russian national anthem, and then a company formed of the honourary guard of the Presidential regiment, soldiers from the Land Forces, the Air Force and the Navy, and cadets from the leading military schools of the country walked in a ceremonial march past the Eternal Flame.
