Mr Putin announced that he had signed the decree at a meeting with the leaders of the three regions – Alexander Khloponin, Boris Zolotaryov and Oleg Budargin.
The three regions will receive assistance in carrying out energy and infrastructure projects.
The President stressed that the aim of merging the three regions into one is not just to undertake administrative transformations but to improve people’s lives.
People should be able to see that the situation is improving in areas where improvements have long been awaited, especially in regions that, for objective reasons, are unable to effectively address many social issues on their own.
