The head of state thanked Alexii II for all that he and the Russian Orthodox Church were doing to encourage inter-faith harmony and the country’s spiritual revival.
The President pointed to the significant growth in the number of communities in the country, including Orthodox, Jewish and Islamic ones. But the state still owes a great debt to religious organisations and churches. Vladimir Putin said that state would assist and support their work for people.
