The President held a meeting with a number of federal ministers and heads of law-enforcement departments.
Issues were discussed of stationing permanent mountain brigades in Dagestan and Karachaevo-Cherkesia, and interaction of law-enforcement structures in the south of Russia.
The President inspected the recently opened FSB centre of special purpose next to Makhachkala, and noted the special importance of placing the centre directly in Dagestan.
The President also visited the Jepel border post on the border of Russia and Azerbaijan, where he was shown the new equipment used in guarding the border, and also the capabilities of new digital communications with which southern border posts have begun to be equipped.
During his visit to the border post, Vladimir Putin met with journalists. In his talk with them, the President touched on issues of organising the southern section of the Russian border.
As part of his visit to the Southern Federal District, the President also visited Derbent.
