Press statement on the results of Russian-Kyrgyz talks.

A wide range of questions regarding bilateral political, economic, cultural, and educational cooperation were discussed.

Vladimir Putin and Kurmanbek Bakiev discussed pressing international and regional problems, as well as Russian-Kyrgyz collaboration within the CIS, the Collective Security Treaty Organisation, the Eurasian Economic Community, the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, and other international structures.

The Presidents paid special attention to strengthening trade and economic relations, including promoting cooperation in investment, and in the power, gas, and mining sectors.

They also discussed questions relating to the security and stability of Central Asia. Russia and Kyrgyzstan intend to increase their joint efforts to effectively counteract international terrorism, cross-border criminality, and drug trafficking.

Vladimir Putin noted Kurmanbek Bakiev's sincere desire to strengthen allied relations between the Russian Federation and Kyrgyzstan, and expressed his conviction that joint efforts will provide continuing, quality development of the strategic partnership.

The joint statement on the results of the negotiations reflects the reciprocal desire to develop cooperation on many levels.

Many intergovernmental agreements on subjects such as Kyrgyzstan's debts to Russia, and bilateral military and technical cooperation were signed in Vladimir Putin and Kurmanbek Bakiev's presence.
