The main theme of talks between President Vladimir Putin and Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder was Russian-German collaboration in the energy sector.
The joint statement resulting from Russian-German talks in Berlin notes that it is necessary to coordinate policies in this area, and take steps to provide uninterrupted energy delivery, profitable conditions, and environmentally friendly activities.
The scale of Russian-German joint activities in all components of the energy sector will promote closer integration between Russia's economy and that of her European partners.
At the press conference, Vladimir Putin noted that further development of energy cooperation between the two countries, in particular the North-European pipeline, is not meant to infringe on the economic interests of the Baltic states and of eastern European countries.
