The summit discussed current issues regarding the Commonwealth of Independent States’ development, in particular, the prospects for cooperation in the energy and transport sectors and organisational issues related to the next meeting of the Council of CIS Heads of State in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, which currently holds the presidency of the CIS.
President Dmitry Medvedev held a series of bilateral meetings with CIS leaders before the summit began.
