Gordon Brown is taking part in the meeting betwen the finance ministers of G8 member states in Moscow.
At the beginning of the meeting the President of Russia declared that during the Russian presidency of the G8 in 2006 Russia intends to continue implementing the main tasks that Great Britain put forward during its presidency in 2005. In particular, one of these tasks concerns debt relief for the poorest countries of the world.
Vladimir Putin also touched on an issue that Russia is proposing to make a priority one, namely maintaining stability on the world energy markets.
