The message reads in particular:
“This jubilee is a significant event in the public life of our country and an occasion for celebration for the many people who love the fine arts. The illustrious Tretyakov Gallery’s history has always been linked to the works of outstanding representatives of Russian culture – artists, sculptors, graphic artists – masters who truly enjoy world renown. It has also always been linked, of course, to the name of our famous compatriot – Pavel Mikhailovich Tretyakov. It was the selfless devotion, enthusiasm and generosity of spirit of this wonderful man, patron of the arts and educator that laid the foundations of the gallery’s priceless collection.
Over the last decades the Tretyakov Gallery has become a major museum and scientific complex. Several generations of highly qualified specialists have worked here to develop the rich traditions of the museum and to carry out research, educational and restoration work and expand the gallery’s collection.”
