Mr Putin made this statement at a meeting with Prince Salman bin Abdul-Aziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia.
Russia will be grateful for any information about the murderers, Mr Putin said.
The meeting discussed bilateral relations between Russia and Saudi Arabia.
Prince Salman bin Abdul-Aziz Al Saud is in Moscow at the invitation of the Mayor of Moscow.
