Mr Putin said that he had examined Mr Alkhanov’s request to be transferred to different work and had signed a decree appointing him deputy Russian justice minister.
The President noted that there had been much change for the better in Chechnya since Mr Alkhanov became President of Chechnya in 2004. Mr Putin thanked Mr Alkhanov for his work and said he was confident that Mr Alkhanov would be just as successful in his new post.
Mr Putin also said he had signed a decree awarding Mr Alkhanov the Order for Services to the Fatherland IV class.
For his part, Mr Alkhanov thanked Mr Putin for the positive assessment of his work and said that in Chechnya over this time, the state had followed a policy of consolidation and renewal in the republic.
