The state defence order for the year 2000 and the situation in the North Caucasus, including Chechnya, were discussed during the meeting. The meeting participants paid special attention to additional measures to stabilise the situation in the republic. Mr Putin approved an action plan for the federal authorities in Chechnya that took the current situation into account.
Igor Sergeyev, the defence minister, Nikolai Solovyov, deputy minister of internal affairs, Nikolai Patrushev, director of the FSB, Vladimir Ustinov, acting prosecutor-general, Yury Chaika, justice minister, Sergei Ivanov, secretary of the Security Council, Konstantin Totsky, director of the Federal Boarder Guard Service, Anatoly Kvashnin, chief of the Armed Forces’ General Staff, and Alexander Voloshin, chief of staff of the Presidential Executive Office, participated in the meeting.
