Laying flowers at the monument of St. Vladimir the Prince Equal-to-the-Apostles with presidents Leonid Kuchma of Ukraine and Alexander Lukashenko of Belarus.

The monument is located on the site of a great tank battle, which took place in July 1943.

Vladimir Putin, Alexander Lukashenko and Leonid Kuchma laid a flower garland to the foot of the belfry Victory Monument in Prokhorovka Field.

In an address at the ceremony Russian President elect Vladimir Putin said that the greatest contribution to the victory over Nazism belonged to the nations of Russia, Belarus and Ukraine, and ever closer friendship of those fraternal countries would be the best monument to the dead.

Russians, Belarusians and Ukrainians are closely related nations, and there can be no barriers between them to join hands for a happy and prosperous life, Mr Putin said later as the three presidents were addressing journalists.

Vladimir Putin, Alexander Lukashenko and Leonid Kuchma made a sightseeing tour of Belgorod and laid flowers to the monument of St. Vladimir the Prince Equal-to-the-Apostles.
