The treaty was signed in Moscow on November 19, 2001.
It is a basic bilateral document that is aimed to develop mutually beneficial cooperation between the two states in the political, economic, cultural, legal and other fields.
It confirms the commitment of the sides to the universally recognised principles and norms of international law and to the process of the political resolution of the Transdnestrian problem, in which the Russian Federation acts as a co-mediator and a guarantor.
