The next SCO summit will be held in June 2009 in Yekaterinburg. This is stated in the communiqué issued by the heads of SCO member states in Dushanbe. The summit participants commended Tajikistan’s SCO chairmanship and expressed their appreciation to Tajikistan for organising the summit.
Following the meeting several documents on cooperation within the SCO framework were signed, as well as a joint communique and Dushanbe Declaration. The summit participants introduced a separate point in the Declaration concerning South Ossetia: SCO members expressed their concern over the tensions in and around South Ossetia and support for Russia’s role in promoting peace and cooperation in the region.
