The message reads, in part:
“You will discuss crucial issues associated with the development of an information society. Above all, you will consider the draft National Action Plan for the Development of the Information Society in the Russian Federation.
The 21st century is rightly called the age of information. Today, it is essential to improve communication infrastructure, address the so-called digital divide between regions more actively, and adopt the most up-to-date standards and technology.
I am sure that your Forum will make a significant contribution to these goals and help strengthen Russia's position in the global information space.”
The Forum is a national event and is taking place on July 2–3, 2009, in the city of Tver (167 km north-west of Moscow). Over a thousand leading experts in the field of information technology as well as representatives of business and government will be in attendance.
